How To Create The Life You Want
Are you dreaming of a better life for yourself? I certainly have and it took me years to realize that I had control over what kind of life I wanted to live. Many of us are not aware that we go through life making decisions everyday that impact our lives. Any decision you make, whether you are consciously aware that you are making this decision or not- is going to impact your life.
Any decision you make whether you are consciously aware that you are making this decision or not- is going to impact your life!
Most of us don’t realize the profound effects of making a decision has in our lives. Often, we go through life completely oblivious to the thoughts that we are thinking and the actions that we are taking.
Every single decision that we make in a day shapes our current reality. They shape who we are as people as we habitually follow through with the decisions we make without even realizing it. We struggle with making big decisions in our lives but forget that every little decision we make each day adds to a life-changing decision.
If you are unhappy with the results you are getting in life right now, making the effort to change how you make decisions starting today will be the key to creating the person you want to be and the life you want to have in the future.
Start making more conscious decisions and start living the life you want. Here are a few tips to help you start making more conscious decisions:
Don’t Overthink And Follow Your ‘Gut’ Instinct
You may often take too long to make a decision because you’re afraid of the outcome. You can spend a long time carefully planning, analyzing and considering the pros and cons before reaching a decision.
This can be a very time-consuming process. Instead, learn to trust your gut. Our gut instinct is usually the right decision or the one that we truly wanted to go with.
Follow Through With Your Decisions
When you make a decision – act on it! Commit to making a real decision.
What is a real decision? It’s when we decide on something, and then follow through with action. It’s pointless if you make a decision and play out the scenario in your mind but fail to act and actually do anything about it.
That is just the same as not making a decision at all. If you want to make real changes in life, you have to make it a habit to apply action to every decision until it’s completed. As you practice this, you’ll feel more confident with following through on the next decision that arises.
Maintain a Flexible Approach
This may sound counter-intuitive – but making a decision doesn’t mean that you can’t be open to other options. Let’s say you made a decision to lose ten pounds over the next month through cardio only.
If another option becomes available, you don’t have to just stick with cardio (aka running on a treadmill); you could be open to losing the weight through weight training or kickboxing as long as it helps you reach your end goal.
Embrace any new knowledge that brings you closer to accomplishing your initial decision.
Learn From Your Past Decisions
Learning from the decisions you’ve made in the past can be an excellent platform to base your future decision making upon. If you consider your past successes and failures, you can ask yourself questions like: ‘What can I do differently this time to make it work?’
The truth is you will mess up at times when it comes to making decisions and instead of beating yourself up about it, you can choose to learn something from it. Ask yourself – what was positive about the decision I made? What was negative about it? What can I learn from it so I can make a better decision next time?
Get Excited About Making New Decisions!
Enjoy the decision-making process – many people don’t! Although decision-making might not be the most enjoyable thing in the world, when we begin to practice it often, life becomes a game of opportunity.
We’ll learn a lot about ourselves on the way and become a lot more confident within ourselves and around others. Making good decisions for ourselves will become a lot easier through practice.
Any decision we make from this point onwards has the potential to affect our lives profoundly. Learn to make better decisions for your life today.
