A Workout Plan For Beginners: How To Start working Out

I know that many of us get so motivated to get fit and workout every day but so few actually stick with it and the main reason is because we don’t have a workout plan.

We “go all in” and after a few weeks we get discouraged or, something else takes priority and we lose momentum. I’ve been there many times, but things drastically changed about 3 years ago when I created a workout plan that got me from a couch potato to working out 3-5 times a week. This workout plan was the key that set me up for success…finally!

Workout Plan:

1. Take Baby Steps

I only went once a week for the first month because I knew I would burnt out if I went every day (going from 0 to 100 is never a good idea). I go 3-5 times a week now depending on my schedule but not less than 3 times a week.

2. Ask A Friend To Join You

I asked one of my friends to join me to keep me accountable (at least for the first few weeks); Call any friend up, this is only so you get the momentum going.

3. Join A Small Group Class

I enrolled in a small gym in a group class so I could meet people. This is great if you want to make friends that are also interested in getting healthy & fit. Trust me, this makes a world of difference. These people will become your tribe once you start going to the gym enough times.

4. Schedule Your Workouts

I set a schedule that is non-negotiable and I still follow that today. One key  point here is to  plan things around your workout schedule each week. It’s easy to fall off the wagon when you don’t schedule your time with the things you MUST do each week.

5. Make Your Mind Your Friend

I made my mind a friend not my enemy. when my mind would say something like, “you don’t have to go today. You are so tired.” I would gently remind myself that we still needed to go but we would go easy. Remember to stay firm but don’t let your mind control you. You are the master of your mind, not the other way around.

RESULTS

After 6 months of this routine, I knew I had created a new habit. My body was now asking to go which was a total shock to me. I hope this motivates you to start and get you going in your health journey.

So if you are still thinking about working out, don’t think…DO! Your body will thank you for it. You will feel so much more energized and you will be way more productive.

Start loving yourself the right way!
